Mother tongue Week!!

Mother Tongue Week Reflection

In SWA we celebrated the mother tongue week from February 21st to February 25th. Just like the other International school, in SWA there are many students that come from many different countries, and don’t have English as their first language. Everyday there’s a different topic, according to the continents, Such as Asia, Europe, Australia, and America.

Every day, there are performances in the Bamboo Court. I think the most interesting performance was the Chinese Fan Dance on Tuesday. Chinese Fan Dance is a traditional dance of China, it it’s very famous and always being presented in special events like Chinese New Year. There are also other kinds of Chinese fan Dance, this is only one of them, but I think this one is really cool, and it’s soft but powerful. I think the dance also include some elements of Tai Chi. The one who did the performance were the Chinese teachers, and some staffs. They wore white clothes, which look simple, and the red fan on their hand just stand out with the white cloth. I watched the performance before, but it’s still very interesting to watch again. I liked the part when they open the fan, there will be a loud voice, which I think is really cool. Even though I only watched a small part of the performance, I still like it very much.

I think the teachers really did a great job in this performance, and I would love to see them doing the Chinese Fan Dance again some day.

I got the picture from my teacher
